The City of Rome has started the process of hiring a design team for the SPLOST-funded tennis center project.

Rome City Manager Sammy Rich says they received 8 proposals from architects and engineers and they are in the process of reviewing them.

Collins Project Management is leading the effort to get the city through the project from start to finish.

Rich said once the design team is on board, “They’ll take out conceptual ideas and start drawing and sighting the center, so we’ll know exactly where it will sit on the ground and what it’s going to look like. They’ll be charged with drawing the actual construction documents up so that we can put it out for bid and go from conception to reality.”

A recommendation regarding the design team will go before the Rome City Commission once the review process is completed.
